Open Grants

In 2010, the Crescent Fund will award grants up to $8,000 to support the following areas:

  1. Environment Fund
    The Environment Fund will support initiatives in greater New Orleans that educate the community and take action on local environmental issues including reuse and recycling, food production and distribution, environmental justice, and energy efficiency.
  2. Arts & Culture Fund
    The Arts & Culture Fund will support specific projects taking place in New Orleans that expose local arts and culture to new or unfamiliar audiences.
  3. Children & Adolescent Fund
    The Children and Adolescent Fund will support organizations that aim to strengthen character and instill confidence among New Orleans-area youth.
  4. Economic Development Fund
    The Economic Development Fund will support organizations that focus on one or more of the following: Job Creation & Retention, Workforce Development, and/or Business Creation. In determining grant awards, preference will be given to entities that accomplish one or more of the following:

    • Create jobs with high potential for upward mobility
    • Incentivize current residents to remain in New Orleans
    • Grow and strengthen existing and emerging industries
    • Maximize career opportunities for the unemployed and underemployed

    Applicants are encouraged to specify how the Economic Development Fund’s grant will directly impact their organization’s mission and the residents of our great city.

Eligibility:

Applicants must have 501c3 status. If you are an individual with an innovative idea, you must find a sponsoring 501c3.

Reporting Information:

You will be asked to report on your project 3 months, 6 months, 1 year after project funding, and at project completion.

How to Apply:

Please submit a one page Letter of Intent to application@nolacrescentfund.org by July 22, 2010.

  • In the email subject line, please specify to which fund you are applying – Environment, Arts & Culture, Children &
    Adolescent, or Economic Development.
  • You may apply to one area only.
  • The Letter of Intent should include a brief description of the 1) Organization Name & Description 2) project
    description 3) how much you are asking & how will be used.

After the initial review, you may be invited to submit a full proposal. Finalists will be invited to a meet with Crescent Fund members to discuss your proposal. You will be notified by August 5th.

Invitation for Site Visit and/or Interview: September 16th
Announcement of Grant Recipients: October 22nd
Awards Ceremony: November 10th
